Welcome to AstroGen. From this page you can search the database using any of a number of criteria. You can search for an Astronomer and learn about that astronomer and his or her thesis and then go from there to the astronomer's academic ancestors or descendants. You can search for all the astronomers who earned their doctorates at any given University or in any given country over any particular time period.
Enter search data in at least one field. The more criteria entered, the smaller the number of results obtained. By default, results will only be returned that contain all search terms, and words will be partially matched. You may also perform an advanced search using boolean operators when the 'Advanced Search' box is checked, but words will not be automatically required or partially matched unless you add the corresponding operators:
|Advanced Search Description
|Include, the word must be present.
|Exclude, the word must not be present.
|Include, and increase ranking value.
|Include, and decrease the ranking value.
|Group words into subexpressions (allowing them to be included, excluded, ranked, and so forth as a group).
|Negate a word’s ranking value.
|Wildcard at the end of the (partial) word.
|Defines a phrase (as opposed to a list of individual words, the entire phrase is matched for inclusion or exclusion).
